The Mediterranean cypress or the evergreen cypress, whose scientific name is Cupressus sempervirens, is a tree belonging to the genus Cypress of the Cypress family.
Botanical description
Cypress is evergreen, pyramidal in shape, up to 30 meters high, with small scale-like leaves, delicate dark green, and male and female cones. Its wood is very fragrant. Cypress is slow growing.
The original home of cypress
The original home of cypress is Turkey and the Arabian Peninsula. The Sarawat mountain range was named in the Arabian Peninsula, which extends from Taif in the north to Yemen in the south, where it is covered by this plant. It is also called juniper. It grows in moderate climates and is currently grown in all countries of the Mediterranean basin.
